Kiddie Talks - 25

As always iam taken back by the presence of mind the gen-x kids show now-a-days. Not only P but iam seeing it all around. Now back to the business...

Its been raining birthdays all around. Be it school or office colleagues or neighbors. So the night talks goes as follows:
P : Amma can i also have a birthday this week.
Me : Its already over and ur mam knows all about ur date of birth.
P : Amma please ma...
Me: Ur mam has the record of all the students , so u cannot fool her.
P : Then lets say its my star birthday.
Me : !@#$%%

As you all are aware we have a small library for P at home. Whenever we go shopping, we get couple of books for him. One such book is Spelling activity.
P was doing the book yesterday since his assessment got over last week. It had series of headings like class teacher, books, hobbies, best friends etc. under which 4 examples of each to be given. One such heading is insects.
Guess what he had written...
Rangooschi (the exact spelling which he wrote)
We were all literally ROTFL reading that and with the explanation given.

Latest humming tunes of P.... One cannot but swell with pride when u hear him singing these..
Then pandi seemaiyile from Nayagan
Ninnukkori varanum from Agni natchathiram
Chinna chinna asai from Roja
Meenkudi theril - no idea of the movie

All effects of FM.......

Sick, Sick then again Sick...

Its been sick-o-mania right thro the past month. Like they used to say in SUN previously it has been sick maaaatham at P's household. It all started with one sadabisheham...
Do you believe in kan-dhrishti.... Yes its been raining on us....
The first dhrishti is like this.... Intha CG evvalavu nallava, adakkamaana ponnu, (ithuellam namba appappo seththukka vendam) how effectively she is managing home as well the kid. (the main protagonist is CG). Next - look at CG , she is sure lucky to have this kind of aathu , who does the business prudently and inspite of his workload never fails to carry her in a platter (literally) (here also though the praises are showered on aathu the protagonist is CG). Next is P - adadaa how intelligent he is? Look at the way he speaks?

One sample on P's diplomatic way...
Once his periamma made Gobi 65 and it was not just enough spicy.

Periamma - P unakku Gobi pidichirukka?

P - Romba nalla irukku, aana sambar kooda irunthaa innum nalla irukkum!!!!!!!!!!!!

She was like aaaawwwwwww for a minute.......then started ROTFL ing......

Here also the main compliments go for P but still the dhrishti part comes to me, myself athaaanga naaan. The scene from nayagan(kamal) comes to my mind here. The children would be re-enacting the roles of their father and the iyer at their backyard when one of them calls Iyere? the girl would immediately respond - Nanthan iyer!!! Nanthan iyer!!!! Antha maathiri Naanthan ella circumstances leyum nnu solla varen!!!!!!!!!!!

It started on P literally. He went down with cough, cold and then the first round of doctor was over. Immediately yours truly went to doctor for the same reason and aathu too followed suite. Not long before suddenly P got temperature to the tune of 102 and was immediately rushed to the doctor who promptly blamed the sinusitis and made appropriate noises and then gave the medicines all not before extracting all in all to the tune of thousand including medicines.
The same evening even before the thermometer cooled , i occupied the other side of the bed. What started of as fever gradually accommodated vomiting , diarrhea, joint pains, stomach ulcer etc.. So went 5 days in a jiffy with IV on first two and liquid diet on next three. Ist day the sister was in a hurry it seems so she kept the flow to the maximum and after two bottles , shivering started. Aathu who was near got scared - ithu enna spring ball maathiri body bayangara shivering ah irukkunnu. It was like the ActII popcorn popping in a cooker without the pop up sound but was amply matched by the hmmmm sounds given by yours truly... So apart from the fever and vomit medicines, ithukkum sethu oru 3 injection.
I think the month long stock would have become deplete within 5 days. Nalla vela next two days fever continue ayirunthaaa, dengue and leptospirosis medicines kooda gaali aagi irukkum.....
Now All is well nnu nenaikkaren. Waiting for the next round of dhrishti where a spate of marriages are due starting from chithirai maaasam......

Heart-to-Heart-II

My first part...
http://oreponnu.blogspot.com/2010/02/maiden-attempt-heart-to-heart.html

Rest...

The moment arrived with a bang. Can you imagine it? Oh my god!!!!! Were those really those three precious words? Did he really utter them? Does he know the meaning? I started looking left , right and the top floor to make sure he threw those words towards the right person – is that really me?!!!!!!!!!! Or am I imagining something.

To a person who always grew up being compared with cousins physically as well intellectually , this came as a shock really. Common friends always used to admire the more beautiful, fairer and the talkative cousin. At school too, friends , classmates used to admire the younger one more. Hey your cousin is really pretty. Though she switched schools often, she managed to stand out on her own and this was the reason she was favored upon.

Everyone irrespective of their bearings have certain expectations regarding the attributes they would look upon on the opposite sex. So mine always had these ones – tall, lean, spectacles a must and the complexion never made an issue (on the fair side added advantage but one cannot overlook their negatives in this aspect). The first glimpse was caught on the deepavali day – what a cliché – he was very active and was busy bursting the crackers along with his brother (older one I assume due to his bearing personality). Not only their money he was burning to ashes but also those of their neighbors (two beautiful girls, but older ones , I dare say) with whom his brother was busily flirting. We didn’t have deepavali that year because of our uncles untimely death , all the more looking forward to get it past on us. Though his brother also fell into the category of favourite attributes, he lacked one and the foremost of it being slim. Nevertheless ignoring him would be foolish cos he might be the pathway leading to his sibling. Keeping said thoughts to self I got more involved in the immediate events, being the marriage of my uncle.

Marriage being the last one in the family in the immediate future was an elaborate event. This occupied the thoughts to the brim and in the commotion "kannadi"(nick name given owing to the fact that spectacles occupied large portion of his attractive face ) conveniently took the last of it. Since the hormones of the teens were in full swing, the thoughts or the attention couldn't be kept tied to one person, so there were way back many crushes and on-lookers. And the competition was fierce in the home-ground owing to the cousin factor, so all those crushes were to be kept safely hidden for the fear of being mocked.

Sufficient time passed between the first encounter and the next with "kannadi". The time factor in this case due to distractions extended to more than a year. The next one happened in a bus stop....

Playlist-I

Some songs never leave your lips and thoughts unless the aathi and gothram of it is established. One such song of the recent times is this. I have been racking my brain for days together forgetting our samaya sanjeevi google cos i cant get the opening lines of it. Finally at last with fm blarring with the song logged on to the PC and found it.
It is this song and the lyrics here . Music is by harris's assistant and it is all the more evident . I got confused with Engeyum kadhal first but later found it was different.
While listening to this it reminded me of a similar song from the movie yaadumagi (this one also i happened to see the visual once in sun music and later found its name)
When i was thinking of these two songs and doing a research on them i cannot but think and hum these two tooo.
The first one being this - This song from subramaniapuram was way too catchy and didnt gell with rest of the song or the movie so i was unable to identify the movie first cos they dont tell the name of the movie or about the song often in FM.
Usually while trying to find a song i would try to fit the heroes one by one and would determine the movie by elimination method. But not even a single soul matched this song except our so called karthik kumar(was known thro EVAM earlier but now more as suchis purushan - another one paavamana maapilai - cos ella movie layum heroine oppukku chappava vechindu kadasila hero kooda poiduva - earlier it was RAJA)
The song which came to my mind was this again - wonderful one by P.C
All the above songs have something in common. Since iam not proficient in music couldnt place my finger. Yaaranum therinja sollunga.

Platinum Moments

Past one week iam neither here nor there. Means iam totally confused. First two sentence kke ippadi tension aana eppadi dont u want to move further. ;)
Iam just spending time means wasting it literally not using it productively. So many chores are pending - cleaning, organising and researching (athuthaaanga P kku solli thara - they have been teaching about measurements at school and enakku inga mandaya pottu muttikkatha korathaaan - strides, pace, cubit - so many times i have googled but didnt get a clear picture - apparam engernthu avanukku solli thara) and to tower all the above said things finalisation - year end vararthe.
But iam happily wasting my time - listening to fm , browsing, watching TV - chumma illa watching all the movies in Movies Now - It has become a kudumba affair now. We all spend some time together watching all kuppai movies, some classic ones and not so kuppai ones in the process. Ithuthaaan family time oh. And yestereday while watching TV we came across some DW-TV channel. One man was training or rather exhibiting the talent of his pet - monkey. It was swinging from rope to rope (ithula enna visesham nnu kekkathinga) and both of them were happily having meals together from a single plate. It had peas and other veggies. And antha monkey avvalavu azhaga peas onnonna eduthu saaptuthu. And i was expressing the same feeling to aathu. Immediately he retorted, " korangu saapadrathu enna azhagu"
Me: Illa athu evvalavu azhaga one by one ah eduthu saapadrathu illa
A : Adippavi naan saapadratha ennaikkanum ippadi rasichiruppiyaaa, atleast nalla saapadaanum potruppiya, koranga poi wow cutennu ippadi rasikkiriye, Intha ponnungale ippadithaaan.....
Athukkapparam enna ore Non-stop LOL thaaaan
Ok now on to the topic. Big fm - they have been announcing some contest asking the listeners to send them their platinum moments. Listening got my wheels spinning. Not one but so much of it - So thought i can document them one by one here for my future reference. (iam good at quoting - aathu used to say athu eppadi kutham solrache mattum date, time , day and position of the persons everything appadiye quote panrannu - all talent u see - dont ask why cant apply these to my career- i think its a gift unique to female population)
So hereafter weekly one Platinum moment from the past/present is to follow. Why dont u also take up this?!!!!!!

Kiddie Talks - 24

P has been learning about Water for the past one week. Sources , usage and about the pollution.
Sometime last week we were doing his homework which required him to write in a tabular column about the things that float/ sink in water.
He came up with some answers like spoon, ball , leaf etc. So now we gave him some choices ..
Me : Paper
P : Float
Me : Blocks
P : Float
Me :No. Both sink and Float
P : How?
Me : Wooden means sink and Plastic means float
P : Ok
Me : Stone.
P : If it is written Jai Shri Ram it would float others would sink
Me : (took few seconds to react) then both me and aathu ROTFL...........

Stampede-Tragedy

Remember my earlier post - http://oreponnu.blogspot.com/2009/12/new-avatar-of-p.html.
Yes, B's father also was one of the victim. The news reached us yesterday only. My father and chitti family came home for pongal and went back yesterday. Only after reaching they came to know about the news.
Reading in a newspaper was different - the numbers were the only criteria and we were just feeling sorry for the people and the incident. But, now when it struck closer home the impact is bigger. Though i have not seen him in person, immediately after hearing the news i was at loss of words. From yesterday iam not able to behave normally and it is as though i have lost some one dear. Immediately B came in front of my eyes along with his 2 yr old sister. His mother is from a village near Madurai and she is such an innocent lady. Iam unable to think of the plight of the family. Whatever monetary benefits they receive may not be able to fill the void of the person alive with flesh and blood.
Aathu had been going to Sabarimala for the past 5 yrs and i never used to think the journey as otherwise normal. But, i do not know the very thought of his trip next year gives me jitters and henceforth would not be the same.
I think the newspapers instead of covering the extent and number of the accidents should give more coverage to the bereaved family and their haplessness, which in my opinion would create greater impact and would help to prevent accidents or any other incidents to a greater extent. One life or several lives the magnitude should not be measured by numbers.
A life is a life and the loss can just shatter the loved ones and their life can never be the same again.

Edited to add : I sincerely apologise for misleading you in this regard. Actually B is not family though they r more than family - neighbours at my father and chitti's place. Nonetheless is the grief. I thought i had stated that they r our neighbours in our previous post. Anyway passed on your condolences and thanks for the same.
