Movies

Watched both BEB and Endhiran. Two very contrast films. Where do i begin first?
BEB - Out and out entertainment. Even if i turn around to get the water bottle i miss a one-liner and deprived of the joke which P and aathukarar share. Surprise! Surprise! Nayanthara can humour us with her expressions rather with her costumes. She attempted similar in a sarathkumar movie and vishals satyam. Both cannot be sagichufied merely for the reason she tried to copy other heroines. This one was really original. Story - Why do we need one when you can laugh non-stop? Did we have any thing of that sort in Thillumullu or MMKR? All we had to do was laugh our lungs out.

Endhiran - Aathu being a hardcore rajini fan didnt like the film. He expected sort of - singa mugam, singam thaniyaathaan varum, bajji venuma sort of dialogues. And saying all this he saw the movie on first day first night show paying Rs.1000/- along with his brother.
Avaroda complaint ennannaaaa Rajini padam how do you suppose to hear the dialogues and that too first day athuvumaaaa people were quiet and at the end of the film everyone stood up and started clapping ... grrr.... is this the sort of response u give a rajini film.....Die hard fans are unable to accept in any other roles......His verdict was this is not chitti chitti robot film but chutti Tv robot film......
On the other hand, i liked the film. The thing is iam not able to appreciate the acting of Robot Rajini simply for the fact that i was not able to relate him to rajini or a character. I just saw him as robot. It is evident in the scene when he intends to find the black sheep in the fleet of robots. Your heart skips a beat when he slashes the robots trying to find the scientist. P enjoyed the film but said at the end of the movie that -Amma i liked the good robot only not the bad one.

P.S - A robot drawn by P while i was doing his holiday homework ;)

Impressions and Observations

Toy Story - At last watched the movie. And more than P it was we, the adults who enjoyed the movie to the max. The hall was packed to the max capacity and the movie is still running to packed houses crossing more than 50 days - awesome isn't? Aathukarar made the mistake of ordering the popcorn along with the ticket while booking online. The mistake proved to be a costly one - in the sense i vowed i would never have more than a handful of popcorn again. Antha alavukku thegattipochu(large one). When he went and asked for the popcorn while entering the hall , the attendant said that he would bring it in once the movie starts. So, we went and sat and almost everyone especially the ones who were sitting next, previous and the opposite rows were happily munching their popcorn amidst drinking their colas.

Avvalavuthaan P started his paattu - appa popcorn venum every 60th second. Aathukarars reply was "dei 80 rupees * 3 - 240 extra pay panni irukken da kandippa vanthurum". But instead of watching the short film "day and night" (shown before the actual movie) he was keeping his eyes firmly on the entrance and repeating the japam every 60th second. At last it came. And ippo eppodaa intha tub mudiyumnu aayiduthu.

On to the movie - I actually enjoyed the whole episode and the scene which i especially liked was the last one where Andy plays with the little girl after giving all of his toys to her. Though he was going to college he didn't mind playing with the small girl especially his imaginary games with his favourite toys.

While going through forums esp parentree lots of discussions would be centred upon one topic - My child is playing with her toys and speaking to them . She also plays imaginary games and speaking to herself. Ist good or bad? But after watching this movie i really feel the fear is unwarranted.

Naan Magaan alla - Ippo i think the trend is to make realistic movies. Okay i agree, but the realism is turning out to be ugly and unimaginable. Iam not into the argument that the movie is inspired from real life incidents or the criminals are influenced by movies. Lets not get into that. Atleast lets not glorify the incidents and highlight them. This was the feeling i got after watching half of the movie. I didnt really have the inclination to watch the rest. Though the movie had some original scenes (mind original) rest of them were usual like showing the girl and her family as one loosu, ever fighting sister esp for the remote and shouting annna at the top of her voice and sentiment scenes with amma and appa .... sss appaaaa thaanga mudiyala ...ithukku paiya ve better.
OKAY - a big ok why means - iam sick of seeing all the sophisticated villains who find new ways of doing the crimes. I simply hated Vettaiyaadu and vilayadu, kaakka kakka and anjathey for the portrayal of sensitive scenes. It really has its own impact. Though i watched only half of the movie it kept on coming in rewind mode. Such an ordinary soul kke intha impact na think of the sensitive persons over there. Movie is for pure entertainment. Okie u give message like showing the plight of bonded labourers as such in angaadi theru or like shankar movies who thinks he gives some message.(though its like the energy drinks claiming to give you extra energy - people donot think of the energy at the end of the day but only a means of pushing the milk into the kid in some form or other).

Happy Days

I know its relatively old telugu movie. But, cannot take it out of my mind from last December. I mean i saw this movie at my fathers place with my cousins , brother and sister. Full movie was stored in the system and i saw it without break and without any interference from P (he was playing with his friend B).

Awesome!!! This is the word i get after watching the movie. Beautiful feel good movie and everyone watching would love to experience something like that and definitely would carry backwards towards your college/school life. I watched the whole movie with a huge smile plastered on my face, such is the impact i say.

I especially liked the character (oops forgot his name) who goes behind his senior, and the way he pronounces her name "shravanthi". Its just cute.

And the songs too are so good. Hardly 3 songs in the movie and "Are re" song is the one which often gets repeated like that of vikraman movies with S.A.Rajkumar music. Enakku theriyum ithu oru mattamaana comparison nnu bt to more emphasise on the positive aspect u need to compare with worst.

Do watch the movie and you would really love it.

(Oru concept thaan idikkarthu , why the gang members should always be paired with one another and cant atleast a couple remain friends - still its good watching :)))))))))))) )
Heres the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeFMdiRpsMk to the song.....

My current playlist comprises the songs from this movie only.

Vettaikkaran..Not a review

This movie is due for a very long time. Since they give ads left and right in all the sun network channels , P is very much familiar with the songs and dialogues. And during our trip to kumbakonam we purchased a CD at a local shop in thirunallaru, and it had songs from all the released and un-released audios. One such movie was vettaikkaran, and one song from that was missing - "vettaikkaran parambaraidaaa". Enna pblm oh theriyala...

And while they were advertising abt the release date P was asking amma Friday enna time TV la podaporaaanga. Thank god athu mattumthaan pannalaaa. Too much of sugar paayasatha keduthudum maathiri, the advertising had a worse impact on the movie.

And while i was watching the film , i had a confusion all the time , whether i was watching the right movie only. And my confusion cleared only when vijay said, "vetta vetta vetta vettaikkaran daaaa" in a high decibal voice. Intha pazhaya padathula ellam title oru thadava solluvaangale athu maathiri. Itha konjam munnadiye sollakoodathaa, athenna K.Bagyaraj maathiri middle of the film la solrathu!!!!

Actally Vijay yum , director um - sivaji, dil, bagavathy, thirupaachi and konjam pazhaya rajni padangal CDs ellathaiyum munnadi vechu inky pinky ponky pottu screenplay ezhuthiiruppaaanga nnu nenaikkaren.
When athukarar missed few scenes P gave him a detailed version as follows...

Appa antha kettaavan vijay yoda friend ah attack panniduvaana vodane vijaykku kovam vanthudum. Avan oru idea panni avanoda shop kku fire vechiduvaan apparam avanoda panathai ellam thooki pottuduvaan. (building vodanchathu seriya screenla theriyala so he missed out) . Apparam avana punish panrathukkaga avanoda paiyana thannikulla thooki pottuduvaan..

His version was better than the screening i would say....

Especially, vijay azhara scene, en nanbana konnuttiyedaaa was pathetic and it was very funny and the modulation , my god......

Since, my brother was a big vijay fan we had good time teasing all the way from the very first scene. Anushka padathila illama irunthirunthaa kooda oru difference um therinjirukkathu...

Song of this season

Some songs are always meant for murumuring throughout the day. One such song of the recent times is this song....

A very simple melody with wonderful and meaningful lyrics and good picturisation. And this song has been meticulously sung by Naresh Iyer and Shreya Ghoshal. She has got a beautiful voice and strives hard at the pronounciations. Lots of effort and improvement are visible . She has come a long way from the song - "Ninaithu ninaithu paarthen" - 7G Rainbow colony to the present one in Pasanga

And about our present song, a lot has to be said about the herione vega. It was unbelievable to see the transformation from "Saroja" to this one. A lot of heroines do attempt to look and act differenct but this one achieved it , i would say. A modern girl in Saroja to a typical village-bred educated girl in Pasanga , she was completely at ease.

And in the latest ConAgra foods ad too - Pop corn, she was the typical genx girl, bt her dimples gave away.

Unnaipol Oruvan

This is not a movie review, just penning my thoughts about the movie and the movie watching experience. Ever since i heard and read about the movie A Wednesday i desperately wanted to watch the movie. The weird thing about my hindi is i know how to write and read, but cannot understand the language. Though i got the first mark in hindi in school till 8th std(plz never mind it was CBSE third language) , still i get confusion between "tha and thee". The concept of gender for things never got into mind. Please dont ask whether iam through with English grammar. That's a separate story.

Okay now on to the movie... First thing to say is that i didnt watch A Wednesday and do not know about the story except for the one-liner, so i went complete with an open mind. To say precisely about the movie would be - Perfect in all sense. No songs to deviate, no unnecessary punch dialogues, sentiments and the super hero fights. Just a movie from an ordinary man's perspective. It doesnt mean that i hate all those masala movies, iam a hardcore fan of thillu mullu and micheal madana kamarajan. I can watch these movies even today without changing the channels.

My aathukarar said that the film had fantastic screenplay, and sorry to say this i donot know what a screenplay is, though he explained me later. What i felt was it took me along with it as the story travelled. Every actor in that movie were tailor-made and their body language and the mannerisms added gloss to their performance. Whether it was those two cops at their best or the TV anchor or the computer website hijacker, each had their own moment of glory.

This movie too had a hint of humour , love and sentiments but in a perfect dosage. When it was advertised that Shruti haasan was the music composer , i expected at least couple of songs. And i was completely surprised to see a song less movie. Not to include those back ground scores and the bits of songs. What i meant was a flash back song or a romance one.

But not everyone can enjoy the dialogues since half of it were in English especially the war of authority scenes between Mohanlal and Lakshmi (sorry please reduce the make-up in the next movie atleast , it was horrible watching all those close-up shots) . Humour was laced amidst the gripping scenes in the form of one-line dialogues . IIT drop out guys casualness is worth mentioning with the modern lingos.

On the whole it was a beautiful movie without any compromise and a crisp story line. Though the ending was not a convincing one.

Letme post the experience in the next post
