The week that was...

Summer holidays - Bt literally iam on wheels. Guests arrival, outing, and shopping [not for me:( ]
1. P's art classes are going well, and he is experimenting with various forms...monkey, butterfly, mushroom and adding your own creative things to the given picture.
2. Went to thirupathi. ITDC - one day trip. All the arrangements are good and infact we had darshan within 2.5hrs, though it was one minute it was worth the trip. We got nethra darshan without any decoration bt only thulasi malai. This time i was all the more worried during both onward and return journey to/from the hills. It was very rash driving and intha morai thaan i was chanting all the way instead of having cozy chats. P was very co-operative from the beginning - rite from getting up at 4.30 in the morning to having bfast, standing in the queue and no fussy lunch. (Touchwood). Only complaints reg the trip was - both APTDC and ITDC choose the same hotel for lunch/bfast. Due to this the buffet - lunch time becomes pathetic. The hotel is also not that equiped to handle the crowd. Lemon rice theentha vodane, they served jeera rice and curd rice ketta illa. The next one is they ask u to leave ur footwear in a shop opposite to the temple premises and all the way we r made to walk to the entrance. Imagine the plight of the people who are made to walk in the hot sun. Youngsters ok - bt children and old people. Aathukarar got blisters while all the way carrying P.
3. Next outing is Mayajaal - P had great time doing all his favourite things - game station, exhibition sort of thing with battery operated cars [both P and aathukarar went poor me :( ]
And icing on the cake - watched sura. Kankottama he saw whole movie. He is also a fan of vadivel and so all the more reasons to watch the movie. Lunch we had in arusuvai arasu - and they are giving diet coke with the meals - first time iam seeing.
4. Shopping with sister - Ammmaaaadiiiiiiiii. Nejammave it was first of its kind experience for me. Never i had taken more than 15 minutes for choosing a dress. We would always pick out the dresses which we like and select few among them - we follow elimination method. But, annaikku she took more than 4 hours just for choosing 3 dresses. Ithukku trial oru 10-15 dresses. Ninnu ninnu kaal valiye vanthuduthu. P yo amma vammaaa pogalaaam nnu ore paatuuu. Kadaisiyaaa ammma neethaaan best ammmaaa nnu antha shopping spree paarthu ore paarattu vera. (ippayaanum vazhikku vaaa nnu nenachinden)
5. Had a meeting sort of thing with friends - one of them had a baby now. So all the more of baby talks. It was as though everything was new to me. Ennamo enakku romba vayasayitta maathiriyum enakkum athukkum sambanthame illatha maathiriyum irunthathu. Seekiram life la settle ayitaa ithu oru pblm illa. Moreover, i was scared to hold the baby. It was so fragile and all the more chubby :) like ceralac baby. It was sleeping while we went there and sleeping babies are such cuties that we can keep on watching them. Bt was not able to spend more time there cos i went on parole..(athaanga class la P vittutttu antha gapla poitu vanthen)
So, on to next week. First shopping pannanum - books, wardrobe, kitchen accessories ;)
Will update....

Kiddie Talks-19

The story goes as follows:
There is a boy playing with his toy outside his house. And he throws the toy as higher as the tree and catches it. Because the boy is a super-hero. Suddenly there comes the UFO with aliens in it. The boy sees the UFO and goes inside his house and hides. The aliens thinking that no one is around take rest for some time and return to their home later.

P has been going to classes – Global art and skating.
The young entrepreneur – a girl in her early twenties (shouldn’t make a mistake especially w.r.t any females age) has started the franchise for this area. Actually it is a sub-branch. And all the while waiting, I used to admire her courage and the vision. The class is in a room specially constructed in the open space of an apartment. The furnishings – table, chair, fan, AC , the color combination of the wall paintings and the outside small bench in the form of thinnai – everything needs special mention. I was really taken by the enthusiasm and the positive approach. So, even though the branch was a new one, I enrolled P there. It is something of my way of showing a support to the younger clan. These days more and more youngsters (ahem, ahem including yours truly) are taking bold initiatives and are into entrepreneurship.

Today somewhere during his skating class, I misguided P. And after coming home , I apologized to him.

Me : Sorry da , naan unakku thappa solli kuduthutten (I taught u wrongly)

P : Its okay maa, paravailla.

Me : Sorry da

P : Paravailla maaa..

Me : Illada P iam extremely sorry.

P : No problem maaa.

Me : nejammave sorry da.

P : Seri diiii

Me : @#$%$%^^

Time Travel

Isnt a wonder, music can just transport you to a different world?!!! Its like a time-travel capsule, to be precise. It can give u joy as well the soul-ripping pain irrespective of the current situation. Today when i was listening to this song the same pain stuck me and it was not the unhappy thing but a very pleasant one. It transported me to the exact scene about 15yrs back. When the reality hit , i was hearing the voice of P and his friend playing in the next room. And immediately a smile spread on my face. - Oh i have come a long way.
The lyrics fit 100% to the scene at that time and it was as if the whole song and the picturisation was done for me.

Epics - Kiddie Talks-18

Yesterday, I had work (ennaikkuthaan illannu solrathu kaathula vizharthu). So I and aathukarar were working while P was busy coloring the toy story characters. His current craze is to take printouts of the cartoon characters and colour them like macaw with multi-colors.

The scene was more perfect with collection of songs from maniratnam movies in the background. There is this new complilation in raaga which is too good, but lacks variety (if earlier movies are included it would have been the perfect collection).

After a while both P and aathukarar retired for the day and they were having their usual bed time talks. P has this unusual fascination for unusual chains with unusual combination. First it was a chain with thumbdrive which we prepared for his fancy-dress competition. Its a small all-shapes woodeden beaded chain very small in shape. We used the thumb drive as the dollar.

Next, it is the mobile hanging ribbon but instead of mobile he hangs the sticker of ben10 by putting a small hole in its head. And now this is his latest fascination.

Coming to the conversation:

P : Appa enakku oru periyaaaaa kathai sollu, romba perusa irukkkanum.

A : Periyaaa kathaiyaaa (thinking) seri ok. Oru oorla oru raaja irunthaaraaam...

P : Became enthusiastic and said hmmmmmm sollupaaaa

A : Antha raaja peru dasarathar and avarukku 3 wife irunthaangalaaam

P : hmmmmm poooo paaaa antha kathai vendam , nee enna emathara vera kathai sollu.

A : Seri , oru oorla oru arakkan irunthaanam avan peru kamsan (sentence eh mudikkala athukkukullla)

P : (starts crying) ahhhhhhnnnnnnnnnn ithuvum vendam vera ethavathu sollu

Finally settled for tit-bits story hesitantly from mahabharath involving the kids and not before saying " enakku ithu ellam theriyum bal-kand POGO la varum"
Kadaisiyaaa " yamunai aatrile " paatu kettunde thoongi poitaaan.
And all the while i was wondering how i came to know these epics and the answer was palich " Doordarshan" - Ramayana and Mahabharatham. But, those days only one visual medium was there and it showed just one seriial at a time. But now-a-days , the same story shown in various channels from different perspective. Dont u think it would be confusing - showing Raavan as both hero and villian at the same time. I really dont know how to answer his questions and rather would he be able to understand if i try it out philosophically - whether raavan is a hero or villian, is he good or bad?

Kiddie talks - 17

Really i was not able to hold back from penning it down. And apparam intha incident eh maranthu poidum, atleast to remind me of it, iam making this an exception to my so-called hibernation ;).
Shocked as such in a nut-shell will not be an appropriate word for the reaction or bolt i experienced.
Yesterday, went for shopping in my vaahanam (scooty thaaan-13 yrs old - my very first) along with P and following was the conversation:

Honest Scrap and Tag - Combination

I have been tagged by TheUncanny - Honest Scrap and by lavanya and Jayashree - 7 things which is not known to the blogosphere. Here folks, iam combining both the tags and doing it as one.

1. I was an introvert .(includes school and professional study) Always comfortable with a small circle of friends and would be mere spectator. But, later changed myself once i came in contact with B and family who were our neighbours. (precisely after P's birth)

2. Iam extremely possessive. Lost my then best friends thrice during various stages. All due to this trait. Though it peeps at times, now i have gained control.

3. During my 3rd standard Mid term i secured low marks and i forged my paattis signature. Ennoda poraatha neram one classmate saw the process and complained to the teacher. Got a nice pinch from that teacher and her face is still fresh in my memory. Apparam enna veetukku therinju ore advice mazhaithaan(apponnu relatives ellam veetla irunthanga)

4. I lose my handkerchief invariably whenever i carry them. But my aathukarar is just opposite to me. He strictly prohibits me from taking his things especially handkeys. He treasures them.

5. I was very thin during my school days and people would literally make fun of me. There was an aunt in our family and she would be large , seeing her school photograph (where she was like a stick literally) i would wonder, how come one can grow at this rate. Now, i know the answer and desperately would like to get my then physique.

6. I went sugarless for about a month during my pregnancy period. Since i was diagnosed with gestational diabetes was on a strict diet. Its a world known fact that i have a sweet tooth. Would always take half-a-spoon extra sugar in excess of normal qty. Considering the above facts, it was a feat - sugarless milk(that was the first time i had milk-that too sugarless). Krishna sweets was just a stones throw from our home and i had to literally pass without peeping in.

7. Iam allergic to pets and not just allergy iam afraid too ( cats or dogs no partiality). During my 7 th standard my uncles family shifted and came to live as a whole joint one. They brought a Pomeranian too with them. Once we cousins along with few friends were playing in the terrace and at that time the dog came there. It came near me and avvalavuthaan i just climbed a ladder which was placed there and was screaming at the top of my voice. Angeye was standing for about 15 min till my aunt came and took the dog after scolding my cousins. And all the while they were standing and making fun of me. paavam me :(

8. I just love reading, sometimes i get so hooked to the book that i carry it along with me to the bathroom and in the pretense of having bath would sit there and read. Ennada aalaye kaanom nu yaaranum vanthu thattinaathaan kulikkanumennu nenaippe varum. Then wat, jus oru kakka kuliyal pottu vanthuduven. It continues till today ;)

9. I have travelled once from Mambalam station to Egmore in the footboard. The train was so crowded and got to be there in the client place at 9.00 , so vera vazhi theriyama took the risk. And all the while it crossed the nungambakkam bridge i was sincerely praying without looking down. Even if i think now, i shudder once. appo athu prestige issue too when travelling with friends.

10. I visit my blog atleast 10 times. Chummavaanum even i had not posted anything. So, inorder to impose self-control iam taking a small break from blogging. And this applies to posts only and not comments. This self-impossed hibernation is to regain my control and spend some quality time with P in the vacation. Would visit the blogs and comment as usual. When i return i have planned to shed my anonymity. Actually i thot of taking a break without a notice, bt then re-considered and wanted to bid you all adieu.

Kiddie scoops

Scene - 1
Aathukarar as usual coming late due to year-ending (illenna mattum seekirama vanthuduvar). So, P and me were having our usual bed-time talks. He was trying to take out my bindi and we were constantly battling.. Suddenly he remembered his father was not yet home (eppayanumthaan thonum pola irukku) and asked me the reason, i said he was having work.
P : Appa enna vela seiyarar.
Me: Appa is a business man.
P : Seri enna business.
Me : Solution Provider and Networking.(Jus wanted to put the terms into his mind)

Me :@#$%$%%^

Scene - 2
Aathukarar was working on his laptop sincerely. I was in the kitchen.
P called him once "dei". Aathukarar kaathula vizhala. Again called him"dei"
Ippo he heard it and said with a long face , "Ennathu enna sonna"
"Illa ppaa naan unna daddynnu sonnen unakku seriya kekkala"

Scene - 3
Bil with family came to our house. He has got a kid one year elder to P - V.
We were asking V, about his favourite hero and heroine. Pat came the reply as Vijay(ella kozhanthaigalukkume irrespective ah nalla taste eh illa incl P). So, when provoked him abt heroine, he hesitantly said it was " Shreya" (First time he is coming out it seems). P never answers the question about heroine and would say enakku yaraiume pidikkathu, Vijay thavirannu. On that day, when we asked him again the same question, he came up with instant answer...
"Enakku entha hero and heroine pidikkumnu sollava - batman and batwoman"
Onnum vaya thorakka mudiyala, ellarum bayangara vevaramaathaan irukkanga.

Impressions
