Maiden Attempt - " Heart-to-heart"

All the crows were eagerly waiting for the dawn to crack. They all are aware of the “no moon day” being the residents of Chennai, a metropolitan trying to catch up the cosmopolitan tag. Apartment balconies and the terrace walls would be full of eatables ranging from dhal rice to vada, payasam depending on the mood of the offerer, waiting for the gorgeous crows to indulge and in return bless them.
And he was waiting in the terrace under the pretext of drying the clothes, which have been long in the practice , but a bit too early for the day, trying to catch the glimpse of the angel of his dreams.

The words cannot do justice to her features, but what can be expressed would be a fraction of it. She is epitome of perfection with good cheek bones and the complexion like that of the “fair n lovely” advertisement girl. The features to the T much to the dreams of every man present in the universe. Who wouldn’t like to see the perfect girl given the first opportunity?
Ippadi yellam sollanumnu aasai thaan, but what to do, she is an average girl with Dravidian complexion, not so tall, but about 5’3, more on the leaner side. Only plus is her hair which is waist length and the unpainted face which is the true reflection of innocence. And she is pavithra.

He was waiting for her awhile which has become the usual practice for him for about a year.
Hey, “ kakkave illadi” she was screaming to one of her cousins as she was climbing the stairs. Though she was looking for the crows , her eyes were constantly on the run like the biker in the “Globe of death” as had been trained for a month to the opposite terrace. Girls, generally, Indian or western, south or north, irrespectively have an inborn talent of spying. This they can do like driving the vehicle. Why iam comparing with driving is that, they can have million thoughts simultaneously going on in their mind but the road sense and the goal cannot be dispensed with.

The moment she stepped into the terrace, he, remembered to release his breath.
Mahesh, on the other side, cannot be called as an average boy. He is 6’ft and can compete against our Gwalior men on the looks and body building departments.
Physically they can be termed as opposite sides of a coin.
What is that attracts them? (to be continued)

Listening to..

Mannippayaa from Vinnai thaandi Varuvaaya. (VTV) I like this acronym alot. It suits the mood of the film and the colors and music too.
Shreya is awesome. The way she pronounces the word " Mannippayaa" - brilliant, scintillating voice, pronunciation at its best.
Beautiful lyrics by Thamarai - Especially i like the following..

"kadalinil meenaaga irundhaval naan
unakkena karai thaandi vandhaval dhaan
thudithirundhen tharaiyinile
thirumbivitten en kadalidame"

"Varam kidaithum naan,
Thavara vitten-mannipaaya anbey"

"Anaivarum urunggidum iravinum neram,
Enakkadhu thalaiyanai nanaithidum neram.. "

Waiting eagerly for the release of the movie. I want to see the picturisation especially . Think, it will be more in the lines of "Uyirile" from VV. Lets see.
P.S - I like the costume in the above pic and as well the concept.

In Control

Yesterday was the first of its kind long trip with family on aathukarars side after a long time. It was with Bil n family and one chithi n family. All hopes of having vambu with co-sis was shattered with chithis presence. But, still the animated ones , small giggles in between, side-glances etc made up for the day. It was actually a religious trip covering thiruthani and kancheepuram temple.
Cos of krithigai, thiruthani was crowded with chaos all around. And to our credit we too joined the club by trying to get inside through influence. I know its wrong to go through short-cut for catching the glimpse of god, but with kids around and that too sick ones , we settled for it, with no other option. May be we chose a wrong day, to offer our venduthals.
P proved to be The obedient child once again. Really it is nice when others compliment you for having control on your child. Control by means doesnt come by threatening or bullying, i suppose. When his cousin indulged himself with all the cool-drinks , ice-creams and bubble-gums, P not only stayed away from them, but didnt throw tantrums as well.
Cool - drinks from the beginning a strict no-no in our house-hold. Aerated drinks somehow didnt appeal to P as well. Though aathukarar always goes for color, goli soda, bovonto sort of things, P didnt pick it up.
Ice-creams - A simple lecture, how he was suffering last whole week with cough , made him to say no.
Lays and bubble-gum - Again the ill-effects lecture did the trick with bribery of toys.
But, the following thoughts were daunting me.
Am I , keeping him away from the worldly pressures and not allowing him to be on his own?
Am I , spoon-feeding him?
Am I , fussing so much, and in the process bringing up an immunity-less child?
On the whole, cannot say, how long i can hold the cards.

Guilty

I always have this annoying habit of blaming myself for everything. P is not well for the past one month, i mean he is on and off. He is suffering with cold and cough and occasional bouts of fever. And so the doctors visits have become a routine. He is actually confused about the reason, and is experimenting on various causes... At first it was due to adenoids and tonsilitis and we got it removed during last May. And now he says he is prone to allergy and also he has sinusitis. But he was okay for the past 6 months , i mean there were disturbances but not this severe.
Whenever he gets non-stop coughs , i feel helpless and when he says "mudiyala amma" i feel impotent. I have changed the bed from normal one to the foam as suggested and have been cleaning the house like a maniac . I give him warm water only and medicines have become a part of the diet itself. But, he is active and insists on going to school.
I imagine all sorts of things and would blame myself for not taking proper care. Ist because i spend so much time browsing or reading novels when i should be cleaning and thinking about preparing healthy foods for him.
Initially he took all the vegetables and fruits but later after falling sick for about a month refused to take or even for that matter touch them except potato. Ist because i introduced plastic and rubber veggies to him to play with. ( i think since we caution him about not keeping them in his mouth, he developed some sort of phobia - ippadiyellam kooda yosikka mudiyumaannu kekkatheenga - iam in a pathetic state) .
And suddenly there comes a note from his school regarding the children's health which says "IMPROPER DIET". Should i take this literally. Actually, even i was like him during my childhood days, literally grew up on Nei satham and thayir saatham. Ippadiyellam aaruthal paduthikka vendiyathuthaaan.

Raahukalam and Yemagandam

Literally, my grandmothers days start with this only. She is an ardent fan (u can also say devotee)of AMR. For those of you who haven't heard about him - His name is A.M.Rajagopalan and he is the man behind "kumudam jothidam", a weekly magazine related to astrology. So, right in the bed as soon as she wakes up, she would take the book, which is normally kept under the pillow and would read the weekly updates . My aathukarar would always tease her regarding this, saying ur paatti would do anything if AMR says.
And she is a staunch believer of all these rahukalam, yemagandam and yogam etc...She would always insist that we should not start during raahukaalam and yamagandam or during maranayogam.
And we generally just shrug it off and do as we please. But, two incidents happened which made me wonder about these technicalities.
The first one being our trip to vellore during last May. We exactly started during Emagandam and that too on a day with full maranayogam. Hardly we had crossed the poonamalle bridge, when i heard some rattling sound. Told my aathukarar so and he just brushed it aside saying you are imagining things. We generally, travel with windows shut and with AC for air circulation, cos P is allergy to dust, smoke etc. So, the outside noise as such would be just negligible. In spite of that, i was hearing the rattling sound with full force now. So, just again told aathukarar and this time he heard it too. So, we just orangattified and checked. Just then , we noticed that the left back tyre had got punctured and was literally shredding into long pieces . It was about to hit the alloys , when we finally stopped. Just seeing the tyre as such , juices started flowing inside my stomach. Imagine what would have happened, incase we had been continuing , and that too NH at full speed.
Luckily we got two good souls who helped us with the process of replacing the tyre with that of stepney.
The same puncture story happened during the return trip from Bangalore too during November last year. Should i say, same yogam and same yemagandam.....
And again today morning when i went to drop my bro in the bus stand , it was raahukalam. Yesterday, he used my two-wheeler and i think forgot to fill the tank. Me, having immense faith didnt check while starting the vehicle and just dropped him and while returning back , got stuck. So i just opened the petrol cap and to my utter dismay saw that it was dry as a dosa pan. Bayangara kovam and helplessness drove me to the petrol bunk near udhayam theatre, and angeyum oru sathi. The bunk was closed. I just didnt know wat to do. Could have called my aathukarar, but he was busy with morning tender work , so didnt wish to burden him. So i just stood there , just watching the traffic . Another man was standing with his bike and when i enquired whether any loose petrol would be available , he replied that even he was stuck in the same position. Then came a man, from the petrol bunk and told me that there would be one in the 1 st Avenue. Adaadaa, i know that and i cannot go on foot with my scooty trailing behind all the way again nnu sonnen.
Apparam avar enna nenachaaro theriyala, he said then only auto would do nnu sonnar. I was quite confused between, whether he was giving suggestion or was offering to do one nnu. After hesitating for sometime i asked him whether he would be able to get it for me. Me all the way quite not sure, whether he would do or would just escape with the money. Just thought that i would take that risk. One automan came forward and said u give 100 , 60 for pertol and 40 for auto. That man from bunk again asked whether i was interested to go. Rather i thought i would risk 100 than being taken away in autonnu nenachu, "illa illa can u go and get nnu sonnen". He readily agreed and while going told me " Bayappadaatheenga, iam working here only nnu".
After what seemed like eternity both of them came with the petrol. And i offered them my generous thanks along with some money and left the same with some advice "to take proper precautions before venturing out in a two-wheeler".
Veettukku vantha same old archanai - Naan sonnen paathiyaa rahukaalam nu, en pechai kettathaanennu...
But still even after hundreds of experiences and adventures, we would still like to think it as a mere co-incidence....

Impressions

I feel people should travel a lot. It really gives u so much to think about and by various means of transport especially. By travel i mean,...
